With this, you end up working a lot with polylines, thus this post is sort of a collection of polyline tools both native to the software and then some additional 3rd party tools / code that can assist in generating and cleaning up polyline boundaries.Įxtracting Polyline Boundaries from Surfacesįor generating boundaries on corridor surfaces, I feel these two commands get overlooked - but are very fast and helpful. This is the default option, the setting dialogue is not shown when this option is selected.
If some entities selected, you can select from one of the options below: Settings/ExplodeOften in this work I find myself having to create boundaries for my various surfaces to 'clip' the surface so that it is ready for pasting. Select objects to explode: Select objects: You can include blocks, wipeouts and other entities in the selection.

My workflow in grading has been to utilize all types of Civil 3D grading tools (feature lines, grading groups, corridors, etc) and ultimately paste surfaces together to create a final surface. I tend to do a lot of work with grading and Civil 3D Surface.

I know that last week I said I'd be posting these weekly now and given that I'm a day late on this post, hopefully it's still helpful to you. Posted September 28 (edited) Something I have been playing with, one way to union all the offsets is to do just that, then extrude all plines say 5, union the plines this will clean them up and do all the intersections, you explode the solids so get regions need to remove all regions that are not Zzero, so then erase ss. When I was a kid I recall my dad using the phrase 'a day late and a dollar short' off and on.
